We oppose the production and sell of the so called energy drink, Pimp Juice. Not only is the term pimp a negative stereotype that is offensive to many in the Black community, but according to an article on the companys web site, it was said by company representatives that it mixes well with vodka. Nelly has a lot of influence over young people and we feel that many will see pimping as something that is positive and to be a real pimp they will have to mix the drink with vodka to get the full impact of Pimp Juice.
Therefore, we are asking that you cease the production of such a derogatory and demeaning drink.
Over 400 years ago, Black women were taken from their families and sold into slavery . In 2003, we oppose the glamorization of the sale of women through the marketing of your product Pimp Juice.
As Black men and women we need to be building a nation of strong Black leaders, not a nation of super energized drunk pimps!
