In 2003 Canadas Ministry of Fisheries and Oceans announced a quota that allows fishermen to kill close to 1,000,000 baby seals during the years 2003 to 2006. These seals are brutally murdered for their fur. Brutally murdered is not an overstatement. These seals will be beaten with a club, shot, or skinned alive and left to bleed to death. The reason for this petition at this point in time is to stop the prime hunting season this year, which is between the months of April and May. More than 75,000 3-month old pup seals will be killed within weeks if something is not done. The undersigned do not support the Canadian government's acts and demand that they stop subsidizing the seal hunt immediately.
