Hello all,
I would like to address a very long term situation in Irelamd regards researching family records.
The present situation is that you pay €2 per 5 year search of books of indexes,
Then to get a photocopy of any you consider might be relevant to your search you pay €4.
I have no problem with the price, but the probem is that you have no indication as to who you are likely to get
There is no Mother's name on the search of indexes before 1923
Now , you can actually spend hundreds of Euros trying the hit and miss system that has existed for far too long
I am surprised that I have never seen any of the genealogy organisations or others raise this issue before, I could be wrong, but I have never seen such,
In every other country you get the parents names at least
MY PETITION IS : THAT THE IRISH GOVERMENT WILL ENTER THE MOTHER'S NAME ON ALL INDEXES BEFORE 1923 FOR BIRTHS, MARRIAGES AND DEATH RECORDS, AS THEY HAVE DONE SENCE 1923. I know in some records it was never recorded but as many as was , I think it should be entered.
Successive governments have reaped in million over the years through this loop-hole
PLEASE SUPPORT THIS PETITION AND SPREAD THE WORD... (YOU WILL DO YOUR LITTLE BIT FOR THE ORDINARY IRISH FOLK THAT USUALLY GET IGNORED)
I reach out in this year of "The Gathering" to the Irish Diaspora to also spread the word
