Take The Simpsons Out Of Their Suffering

The new episodes feel compelled to compete with Saturday Night Live by shovelling celebrity voices in, with no regard for plot, character or device.
No longer are the episodes funny and original, but rather the show has become a poor parody of itself. Voices are badly done (Kearney has a low voice now, as does Moe, what's up with that?), and jokes are predictable and stupid.
Homer was funny was he was quite stupid. His ultra-stupidity is just annoying.
Don't get me wrong, I don't hate, and never will hate, The Simpsons. I grew up with it, and it forever will be one of the funniest shows on TV. It is precisely for this reason that it needs to end now. I want it to be remembered as Matt Groening's comedy brilliance, not as Fox's poor attempt at humour.
Out of love for The Simpsons, I think they need to be taken out of their suffering. Sadly, the film is already underway (I'm concerned...), so perhaps this would be a good time to draw a line under the life of The Simpsons.
Futurama was cancelled too early, it had life in it yet, so why is it that The Simpsons are forced to keep going, when realistically, their potential died a long time ago?
They say parting is such sweet sorrow. I think now is the time to fondly part with The Simpsons.
