Tax Credits on Unemployment

Being that I have been working for forty years to help this country pay for defense, homeless, programs, and the unemployed I myself have been a victim of unemployment and had to fall back on the program itself. I thank God that such a plan is in place.

However, nothing is worse than being unemployed; add to it that when you do go on unemployment you only get 2/3 rds of your salary (I believe that depends on each state). So, basically we are dropped to the bare minimum to cover our monthly bills (family plus mortgage increase the burden) and then we are taxed on it. MOST people don't realize that taxes have to be paid on unemployment. And, for those that do it means we are getting much less than the 2/3rds or our original salary we depended on. It's nothing more than a further burden.

I propose that there either be a tax credit for unemployment claims per annum for the first 10k received. Or a no-tax obligation for the first 10k received; for both state and federal.

Be advised that I've spent many years being proud of never having to collect unemployment. This is not a selfish request but more of a suggested economic stimuli to put more money in our pockets which will help reduce debt obligations from getting worse.
