TBS is a unique, individual course in the university which we are all proud to be a part of. We believe it produces and contributes a great deal to both the creativity and personal development of the students who partake in it.
The advantages of TBS are:
-Unique seminar programme.
-A wide range of cross-disciplinary subjects.

-Unparalleled alumni loyalty, who often recruit from TBS.
-High level of academic achievement.
-Strong team spirit across the course aided by the TBS Society
- Course director who co-ordinates the seminar programme, forges and maintains links with alumni and employers and offers help and advice to students.
It is a valuable asset to the university, students and employers and was once described by Sir Graham Hills as the jewel in the crown of the Business School.
We are against any changes which we feel would be detrimental to any of the above mentioned aspects. Specifically these changes include:
-The proposed replacement of seminar programme with MDP (Management Development Programme, currently compulsory for all BA students in the business school).
-The removal of the course director
-The removal of key principal subjects (including Accounting and Environmental Technology).
These changes, aimed at bringing TBS in line with the business school as a whole, appear to contradict a senate resolution in January 2006. In addition, students in first, second and third year will not receive the specific education which they originally signed up for. Many of the advantages currently held by TBS graduates would not be available to these students. Once again we must state that we are against any changes that would be detrimental to the course and its students.

The combination of subjects offered to me by TBS enabled me to develop a set of skills that were of great use to me, not only if my first graduate role as a process engineer with Proctor and Gamble but also in my current role and other personal ventures.

In the business school there is no sense of pride in taking a particular course. TBS students are proud of their course and demonstrate passion for it. Strathclye should be encouraging this not trying to squash it.

The MDP class, despite reviews to the contrary, is not the marvellous success that it claims to be, and has students and alumni critics. It panders to what those who rate the course want to see, but does not deliver on key promises. The TBS seminar struct

It would a shame to lose the seminar programme, as has already happened in IBML, as this is one of the key selling points of the course. Furthermore, this is what differentiates TBS and IBML students from other joint honours buisness students.
