The Legalization of Professional MMA competitions in Newfoundland

To the Provincial Government of Newfoundland and Labrador;

We sign this petition in hopes that the current illegal status of Professional Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) competitions be changed, to that of legal. We hope that you realize that this is a very fast growing sport, that generates a lot of revenue, large fan base, and tourism.

There is an already a very large existing fan base in the province of this sport, and many people who train in MMA, and would like a shot at becoming a pro. The legalization of this sport will not only increase the fan base, but also the opportunities of becoming a pro fighter for those who would like to seek such a path in life.

Tourism will also be increased, due to the fact that big named fighters would be here, not only to compete, but also to train. And with the big names in town, people will come to see their favorite fighters close up. There would be a large revenue created when there are big ticket fights, due to not only local fans, but by those who would come to the province to see the show, by the fighters, those who work with the fighters, sports casters, and the list goes on and on.

Mixed Martial Arts will not create children fighting in schools or outdoors. It will help them build character, and make them a strong person when they reach adulthood.

So, Provincial leaders, I ask you, if there is nothing to loose, and everything to gain by legalizing Professional MMA competitions in Newfoundland and Labrador, why are we still on the fence about it?
