The New College FARF petition

We, the undersigned, support the Foreign Artsy Rare Film society at New College and its mission of integrating the Sarasota community, improving the Jane Bancroft Cook Media Centers DVD holdings, and providing a fun thing to do at the New College of Florida. That being said, we DISAPPROVE STRONGLY of:
1. The Student Allocation Committees original demand that every attendee at a film showing be photographed (later modified to only include the collection of personal data)
2. The SACs lack of funding for the club and activity
3. The SACs assumption that no one is interested in it, presumably because nobody else showed up at 10:10 AM on a Saturday (the same day as wall sign-ups) to support us.
We hereby ask the SAC to reconsider our funding request. New College needs more events that are not drug-based. As this organization has received a great amount of support from many faculty and staff members, we do not understand the SACs dislike of our club.

FARF is a great way to get acquainted with interesting (and important) film. Miranda and Kelley have worked very hard; they don't deserve this during their last term here. Look in the media center and see what they've done. I know I think it's very worthw

this is the only way to see a lot of these movies around here. it's also the only club i've been involved in at NCF that actually integrated members of the greater sarasota community.

FARF is excellent. Even if people don't always show up to the initial viewings of the films, people still check the movies out of the media center to enojy them. FIlm is an important artistic medium and it deserves a place at New College.
