We the citizens of the United States of America hereby declare that if we cannot assuredly rely upon the Democratic Party to ensure that our presidential nominee is chosen by the people via pledged delegates and thus through a democratic process, then the Democratic Party cannot assuredly rely upon our participation in the 2008 general election. We stand united in our objection to the implementation of Super-delegates whose very formation was intended to enhance voter sentiment and prevent chaos in the event that there was not enough delegates to allow any remaining candidate to win the nomination. If each candidate has, through a fair, complete and democratic process, obtained a near to amount of delegates to each other, then we recommend that the candidate who comes closest to obtaining the necessary 2025 needed delegates be elected as our presidential nominee. This way, we ensure that our nominee was elected by the people and not through deals, favors, or biased loyalties that have nothing to do with the democratic process. No 796 individuals (elected or not)should have the power to sway the outcome of millions of votes by citizens who have the right to expect their votes not to be diminished in their value to the likes of a small number of Washington insiders. In signing this petition we are asking Howard Dean and the DNC to hear our voices and allow our democratic process to take its course until the candidate who ends up with the most pledged delegates can rightfully take his/her place as the Democratic Partys nominee for President of the United States.
