A total ban on tobacco cultivation The land used to grow the crops all over the world that could be put to better use by planting more trees or food for starving children in third world countries. Tobacco is a sensitive plant prone to many diseases. It therefore requires huge chemical inputs: up to 16 applications of pesticide are recommended during one three-month growing period.
