Romsey Community Primary School would offer;
- A single 30-pupil class entry, straight through Primary School within central Romsey, combining two schools praised by OFSTED for their high quality teaching and learning.
- A school within safe walking distance of central Romsey.
- A fully inclusive school that offers easy access for children and parents with disability or mobility problems.
- The maintenance of close liasion and effective links with both Mountbatten and Romsey Community Secondary schools affording parental choice for secondary education.
- Breakfast and after school care for working parents.
- A proposed new building for an attached nursery offering full time care for working parents 52 weeks of the year. This would contain state of the art resources for early years provision.
If Hampshire County Council closed Romsey Infants and Juniors, you should consider;
- The increase in traffic caused by more parents driving to Cupernham & Halterworth schools and potentially bigger class sizes in temporary portakabin typeaccomodation.
- What development would occur on the sites of Romsey Infants & Junior Schools.
- The loss of Community facilities.
- School places for future housing developments e.g. Abbottswood, the Brewery.
We want to prove that there will be enough children to make this proposition viable. This is why the petition asks whether you live in the catchment area and if you have children of primary school age or younger.
