Unfair Sentencing in Ironton, Ohio

In 2004, my son was convicted of his first felony by an all caucasion jury for armed robbery of a pizza institution in the amount of $569.00 and felonious assault to a young man that had came to my sons home to fight him. My son was given 22 years consecutively. During the initial investigation, the detectives had arrested another young Afro-American then 3 months later arrested my son. The detectives did not have any physical evidence on my son. They had no gun, no fingerprints, no video, no concrete witness to ID him, no money, no mask. The pizza employee stated that she knew that it was my son after the police pointed my son's picture out in the line up when he was arrested for a DUI. The pizza employee stated that she knew that it was my son from his eyes. A young light skinned Afro-American with brown eyes. The only information that they had was from known drug users and sellers who stated that my son told them that he robbed the pizza establishment. One witness had stated that he saw my son in the alley with the gun rolled up in a yellow towel or shirt. If he could not distinguish what the garment was then how did he know that he had a gun. This witness also had alterior motives because I was a State Social Worker and had placed his sister in jail for attacking me as well as removed children from their home for abuse and neglect. The reason that I brought up the juror's race was because the bailiff had came to me and my husband and stated that one of the juror's had showed him a swatstika on his arm and stated that he would see the (N) was guilty. Shortly after, the bailiff was fired because he talked too much. One of the juror's knew my husband because he had been to her home on several occasions to fix her washer through his business. Another witness, last year had wrote me a letter and stated that the detective had told him that if he did not testify against my son that he would get 3 years. This witness knew that the police had information on him for drug sales.














I had to go to Columbus,Ohio to obtain an Afro-American lawyer whom has provided a defense so my son could receive a lessor sentence. My son was 22 with 22 years in prison. Who do you think is going to hire my son at the age of 44 with only prison as his reference. The sad thing is that there are cases in Ironton, Ohio, where individuals have killed individuals and received 18 month. One case is that a lady took another lady to the river bank ran over her with the car backed up over her and then fled to North Carolina. She received 18 months. Another case was a 30 year old man was beaten and thrown over a railing of a 3 story building into an alley and died. The person responsible for this only received 4 years. It seems that a life in Ironton, ohio is worthless. This judicial system is very unfair in their sentencing practices based upon who you are or if you have a lot of money. Well apparently my son is nobody and we surely are not rich. I am just asking for any help through any legal system, Congress, U.S. President, or any organization who can assist in bringing about fairness.
