Upgrade Newbridge Co Kildare to Urban Council Status

Newbridge is the cash cow of Kildare Co Council yet, its status is that of Town Council which is virtually meaningless when it comes to local administration and implementation of policies affecing the town.
Given the demographic changes since its status was first bestowed, Newbridge with a population now in excess of 20,000 needs to be designated Urban Council Status.
Politicians over the years have promised to have this changed but once elections are over-all we get is lip service.
It is withinn the power of the Minister for the Environment to change this. Lets make it happen.
