Utahns believe in self sufficiency, responsibility, and earning rewards through hard work, honesty, integrity and dedication. We are a state that welcomes the stranger and embraces the immigrant. That is why the DREAM Act should be law.
The DREAM Act will provide a chance to earn citizenship for deserving young people brought to the U.S. before the age of 16 and residing in the United States for more than 5 years. The DREAM Act is not a free ride but an opportunity for undocumented youth to earn legal status in the U.S. by serving their country for two years in the military, or successfully attending two years of college. Additionally they must have good moral character and complete the necessary paperwork to begin the long process of obtaining citizenship. Giving Dreamers documentation will afford them the opportunity to contribute to our communities, strengthen the US economy and provide service to our country.
Dreamers are already Americans in every way but one; they lack the proper documentation. Lets give them a chance to earn their citizenship in the United States; the country they call home.
