UWO Food Prices are Unfair! Support Meals for $3

Students at the University of Western Ontario are being ripped off on food prices on campus. The average lunch costs between $10-12. This is because competition on campus is sheltered through a series of legal contracts which allows food services to maintain a monopoly.

The University Students Council (USC) needs to represent its 23,000 undergraduate students on this issue. Contrary to popular belief, we do not have to accept overpriced food as a norm. The USC can get around the legal aspects which stop competition by using its current operations (eg: The Spoke). The Spoke is controlled by the USC which therefore allows us to modify the current operations according to demand of the student population. This will allow for the creation of "Meals for $3" an inexpensive food alternative on campus.

"Meals for $3" will offer a full meal for $3. The meal will consist of a sandwich, drink, and fruit. This operation will be run out of what is currently the Yogurt Bar in the UCC. (http://voteGOLD.ca for more information)
