AmeriCorps VISTAs and supporters;
Volunteers in Services to America that began in August this year are the only VISTAs to have the opportunity to receive a $ 4725 education award revoked. Among the 1629 volunteers that this will affect, many were not told that their option to choose the education award may be revoked until they arrived at their VISTA training in August. VISTAs are on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to serve their community, and receive pay 5\% above the poverty level. For many, the education award was a main incentive for joining AmeriCorps. Not only will it affect the 1629 volunteers, but it will also take up to $7,697,025 away from state colleges and universities.
