We the undersigned residents of Fort Worth, Texas support the full funding of the Directions Home Homeless Assistance Programs currently funded by the City of Fort Worth. This plan strives to end chronic homelessness in Fort Worth by 2018 by increasing permanent supportive housing, creating a central resource facility, expanding homelessness prevention assistance, and strengthening existing homeless service provider organizations through development of new tools, training, and implementation of national best practices that work to end homelessness. Since the Fort Worth City Council passed Directions Home, 322 persons have been housed in one year, including 200 of the most vulnerable homeless in the city. In addition, tenants have increased their level of self-sufficiency by 43\% after only nine (9) months of housing. Tenants income levels increased by 22\% and homelessness has decreased by 16.72\%. Directions Home sets our course to achieve the federal designation as a high performing response to homelessness, meaning more federal resources and reducing our future reliance on city tax dollars. More importantly, Directions Home is ending homelessness in Fort Worth!
Directions Home is working! Cutting funding for these programs will hinder our commitment to make homelessness rare, short-term, and non-recurring in the city of Fort Worth. We, residents of Fort Worth, ask the Mayor, City Council, and the City Manager to renew their commitment to Directions Home.
