Dear Sir,
Subject : Shri Balu Panchal of Mahabaleshwar Threat to this MRTI (Maharashtra Right to Information Act) activist for exposing corruption & whistleblowing and role of police and administration in protecting the accused & their corrupt deeds.
You may be aware that Balu Panchal is spearheading a movement to protect mother nature in Mahabaleshwar which is an integral part of Mother India (Bharat Mata). Instead of protecting the environment and the activist, the police and administration is promoting the destruction of the environment & abetting the corrupt in their conspiracy to destroy evidence and coerce the activist.
Balu had taken up more than 60 cases of illegal constructions & environmental threats and meticulously collected documents & evidences including town planning maps.
A mob of 200 broke open the wooden door, entered Balus house, roughed up his mother and younger brother, broke door panels & glass panes. They removed all documents collected since 1996, about 25-30 files, about 900-1000 photographs, queries filed under MRTI with Collector of Satara and Municipal Council, Lonavla; took these out and burnt them by pouring kerosene.
The mob ( including Municipal Chairman, D.M.Bawalekar whose name figures in High Court in cases of violations of Development Control Rules and the promoters of 2 illegally built housing societies, Khajabhai Abdulla & Dhondiba Utekar), was ably abetted by the police in coercing Balu into not lodging the FIR and in making him sign a compromise affidavit, illegally.
The police also gave warning to the victim, Balu Panchal, under section 149 of CrPC which is conclusive proof of their abetment and active connivance in the accused conspiracy to commit dacoity, intimidation, housebreaking, trespass, arson, destruction of evidence, etc.
The SP while on official leave, called the police inspector from the phone of one of the main accused and directed him to go slow. The police has not conducted proper panchnama. No photographs / video pertaining to mob rule & destruction have been taken on record.
If you do not ensure conviction of the culprits on all the counts including corruption charges, it would tantamount to promoting the law of the jungle.
