As citizens concerned for the future of Allentown and The West End Theatre District we strongly oppose the construction of an Auto Zone retail store as currently proposed at 19th and Tilghman Streets. The buildings design, orientation, and preference toward vehicles over pedestrians makes the Auto Zone proposal incompatible with the neighborhoods long-term goals and vision for growth. Further encroachment of a development of this nature will threaten the neighborhoods potential for long-term growth and our greatest asset, pedestrian scale and safety. For the sake of the West End Theatre Districts character, safety, and future growth the Auto Zone store proposal at 19th & Tilghman Streets cannot be accepted.
