Alumni Call for Resignation of Benjamin Ladner

Over the past few months American University's alumni community has seen the name of the institution we are proud to have graduated from tarnished by the actions of one man. While we have seen the progress the university has made over the years, it has pained us to see the irresponsible actions of President Benjamin Ladner. These actions have undermined the progress the university has made over the past decade, and threatens to undermine the potential for future growth.
We, the Alumni of American University, in conjunction with the faculty of the individual schools, hereby place our motion of no confidence in the leadership and judgment of Benjamin Ladner.
In light of these current events, we urge the Board of Trustees to:
1) Increase transparency in the day to day operations of the University by publicizing their line by line budget so that the entire American University community is aware of all spending, costs, and income.
2) Allow students and faculty more input in their decision-making process. Undergraduate, graduate, and law students should each have a voting representative on the Board; the Faculty representatives must have voting rights as well.
American University has a long history of public service, echoing the phrase "A private university, with a public responsibility." Ben Ladner did not take his responsibilities seriously, but as alumni- we have.
