We, the undersigned, do hereby oppose the development of PARCELS
36.12-2-3 (Lot 7 on map) and 36.12-2-6 (Lot 1 on map) located on the southern
point of the Amawalk Reservoir, otherwise known as Amawalk Point, and
request the Town of Somers to deny any proposals for development of
these PARCELS or any other parcel located on Amawalk Point, and to retain
Amawalk Point as open space to be purchased by the Town of Somers and or
Westchester County for the following reasons:
1. To preserve the rugged beauty of the region.
2. To preserve the quality of the drinking water for residents of the
Town of Somers and the Town of Yorktown who depend on this reservoir
for their drinking water.
3. To preserve an active and significant wildlife corridor.
4. To acknowledge the voters highest priority of preserving OPEN
SPACE and thus preserve the beauty of the town we love.
We believe the development of these PARCELS or any other parcel on
Amawalk Point would forever destroy the natural beauty of this pristine
property and believe that every possible effort should be undertaken to
preserve this property for future generations.
