We, the undersigned, would like to draw your attention towards the increasing tragedy in the infamous political jail in Iran where namely Mr. Heshmatollah Tabarzadi is being denied his basic human rights. Mr. Tabarzadi is suffering from heart problems which he has received as result of the torture he has endured in prison. According to news from Rajai Prison and his family members, Mr. Tabarzadi has recently suffered several heart attacks while being in jail. His request to be transferred to a medical centre has been denied and his health condition is deteriorating day by day.
Heshmatollah Tabarzadi aged 53, Journalist, leader of the banned Democratic Front of Iran, an opposition organization, was arrested on 27 December 2009 at his home in Tehran by four civil servants from the National Prosecutor Generals Office, who had an arrest warrant for Mr. Tabarzadi. Following his arrest he was held in contempt in the Evin Prison before being transferred to Rajai-shahr Prison in Karaj in May 2010. During his trial Mr. Tabarzadi said that he had been beaten and threatened with rape while being in detention and that he had been placed under great pressure and torture to confess to having received money from abroad.
We, the undersigned, would like to warn that the authorities of the Islamic Republic of Iran are directly responsible for Mr. Tabarzadis health condition, who prior to his imprisonment was in good health. Furthermore we wish to urge Dr. Ahmed Shaheed; United Nations Special Rapporteur for Human Rights in Iran, human rights defenders, the UN Human Rights Commission, European Union and United Nations Secretary-General to take any measures possible to stop these unjust and inhumane treatments carried out by the prisons of the Islamic Republic of Iran as well as the inhumane sentences and political persecutions given by the security and judicial authorities of the Iranian Islamic Republic.

ما امضا کنندگان این متن، خواستاریم که توجه شما را به وقایع سهمگینی که درزندانهای ایران رخ میدهد ازجمله درمورد آقای مهندس حشمت الله طبرزدی، جلب نماییم:
بنا به گزارشهای رسیده از زندان رجائی شهر و همچنین اعضاء خانواده آقای حشمت الله طبرزدی، ایشان به دلیل فشارهای وارده در زندان دچاربیماری قلبی شده و اخیراً چندین بار در زندان دچار حمله قلبی شده است و به رغم این مشکلات با درخواست ایشان برای انتقال به یک مرکز درمانی مخالفت شده و وضعیت سلامتی ایشان روز به روز رو به وخامت می رود.
حشمت الله طبرزدی، 53 ساله، روزنامه نگار و رهبر جبهه دموکراتیک ایران، در تاریخ یکشنبه ششم دیماه 1388 در خانه شخصی خود در تهران توسط چهار نفر که حکم بازداشت وی را در دست داشتند و از دفتر دادستانی کل کشورماموربودند، دستگیر شد.
وی پس از دستگیری، ابتدا به زندان اوین و سپس در اردیبهشت 1389 به زندان رجائی شهر کرج منتقل شد. او در جریان محاکمه اش در دادگاه اظهارداشت که مورد ضرب و شتم قرار گرفته و تحت فشارو شکنجه های فراوان، وادار به اقرار به دریافت پول از خارج از کشور شده است.
