Archos have developed and two excellent new models called the AV500 and AV700 (PVPs), with these models Archos have added a limitation that stops the end user from putting in their own hard drive as an upgrade or replacement to a defective drive. The drives are locked into the machines therefore the end user is stuck with the drive the machine is delivered with until such a time the drive fails then it HAS TO BE RETURNED TO ARCHOS UNDER THEIR RMA PROCEEDURE, this is at great cost to the end user and sometimes at great cost of time (some owners of earlier models have reported to have waited for long peroids for the unit repairs under this proceedure).
The drives that are fitted to the machines are STANDARD DRIVES, there is no difference to these drives than the ones that are fitted in everyday laptops.
Lets Make Archos Listen to its customers and stop this control of its END USERS, and make the 500/700s a truely excellent machine.
