This petition is to ban Sarah Silverman from further hosting or performing monologues at MTV awards shows.
Sarah Silverman capitalizes on others' misfortunes by ridiculing them publicly. Her use of satire is in poor taste, unnecessary, and not in the least humorous. She does not contribute to the betterment of society with her nasty insults masked as jokes and delivered with a seemingly sweet facade.
On last night's VMAs, she made the following remarks about Britney Spears.
"Was that incredible? Britney Spears, everyone. Wow. She is amazing. I mean, she is 25-years-old and shes already accomplished everything shes going to accomplish in her life. Its mind blowing."
"Have you seen Britneys kids? Oh my god, they are the most adorable mistakes you will ever see! They're as cute as the hairless vagina they came out of."
What has Sarah Silverman accomplished herself that is so great? What gives her the right to make such brazen comments about Britney Spears' innocent children right after her performance no less?
It is inappropriate for Sarah Silverman to bash celebrities among their peers in such a public forum as an awards show, where their families and children may be in attendance or watching from home. Furthermore, her flagrant cheap shots are outrageous and unacceptable for all families and children watching. We tune into the VMAs to see which of our favorite pop culture idols will win, not to hear them unfairly mocked. Sarah Silverman's behavior takes away from the prestige of MTV, and it is appalling that MTV has allowed such an occurrence.
