This petition is for the legal banning of "spy-ware" or any other program that is installed onto a computer without the owner's consent. "Spy-ware" can harm the computer in these ways, along with many others:
1. It can slow the computer down, causing it to drag and for some programs to run improperly.
2. Spy-ware can give personal information, i.e. your SS number, credit cards numbers, or bank account numbers, to companies or a person, which increases the chance of identity theft.
3. Spy-ware may contain a virus that either:
i. May delete or crash your computer, forcing you to buy a new
hard-drive or computer in whole.
ii.May also lead to identity theft and credit card fraud.
We ask that "spy-ware" be considered illegal in all states because of it's destructive nature, and the amount of financial problems it may cause.
