California Healthy Pets Act

We strongly support requirements of the bill because each year, almost one million unwanted and abandoned cats and dogs are born in the state of California. Left un-spayed and un-neutered, these animals propagate far beyond the capacity of local shelters, animal rescue groups and the community to accommodate them. Unfortunately shelters are forced to euthanize young and healthy animals to make room for more animals. We support and publicize the bill because of these reasons:
Spaying and neutering dogs and cats that are at 4 months live longer and healthier lives.
35,000 dogs and cats, in Fresno County alone were destroyed in 2005.
Taxpayers are the ones paying for the collecting, storing, euthanizing, and the disposing of hundreds of thousands of unwanted animals.
There arent enough homes for animals that are being breed daily.
California will become a national leader in the humane animal welfare and the no-kill movement.
It will help reduce the number of unwanted animals and the practice of euthanizing healthy adoptable animals in the state of California.
Passing this law will help save animals, not hurt them. We strongly urge you to pass this bill so that animals can live and find a loving home.
Please help save the animals.
