Canadian Petition to Save The Lebanese

This is a desperate appeal on behalf of the Arab and Lebanese community to the Canadian government in regards to the vicious attacks on innocent civilians in Lebanon in the name of retaliation by Israel. As part of the Canadian society valuing Canadian ideals we urge the Canadian government to recognize the various human rights violations, the breach of war tactics according to the UN, and the clear out brutality on behalf of Israel on the Lebanese people and infrastructure.

The Canadian government thus far has done little to help comfort the Lebanese-Canadians in Lebanon. While other countries were quick to respond and evacuate their citizenry, thousands of Lebanese Canadians are still stranded in the midst of war, chaos, and evident massacre. Consequently the Lebanese- Canadian population here within Canada and the greater Arab population is humiliated and disappointed in knowing that the Canadian state chooses to consider Israel a victim rather as the aggressor. It is evident historically and currently that Israel is the killing machine of terror in the Middle East. It has constantly been running a brutal occupation in Palestine, and at different eras occupied illegally land in Egypt, Syria and Lebanon . Today again the killing machine is using the actions of a few misguided to react and to in act its power on the people of Lebanon.

Lebanon is a sovereign nation, and consequently a nation that is pro-democracy and pro-secularism as it embodies like Canada a distinct variety of ethnicities and religions. It has never been an aggressor as a nation, and it has always been prey to enemies from within and outside. Such a nation today is being brutally humiliated, targeted, and assassinated, and thus it is important for Canada to support them. It is needed for Canada to criticize the Israeli actions and to boycott them at every level. In a time when most European nations criticized Israel and so did the Vatican, we the Canadians have a civil moral and ethical responsibility to condemn all actions of Israel.

There are two levels of terrorism, one that initiated the Israel aggression, which happens to be open and easily targeted. The other is discrete and hidden behind the walls of a state. This notion of terrorism is state sponsored, the actions of the Israeli Defense Forces are nothing but terrorism on civilians in Lebanon, and we need to collectively call it as we see it.

We humbly request the Canadian state to act fast, to act just and to act for the Lebanese people. We request for the Canadian state to stand behind morality, justice, humanity and peace. We demand that our Prime Minister send a clear message to Israel, and condemn their actions, and ensure the safety of Lebanese Canadians, and urge for a cease fire to give time for relief efforts to initiate in Lebanon. We ask the Canadian state to defend the Arab-Lebanese community in this time of pain, terror, humility and desperation.
