Cease Alberta's Needless Hunting

Hunting is slaughter without cause or regard for conservation. What escalates matter further is the negligence of the government to recognize the parallelism of hunting animals and murder.
On the Alberta Government official website, draws are being held for hunting licenses. There are prizes awarded to those who submit deer heads; the government is turning the precious lives of animals into a game of supremacy. The Fish and Wildlife Division of Alberta Sustainable Resource Development offered their thanks to those who brought in deer heads.
The government charges fees for hunting licenses. While this barely discourages hunting, who gave our government the right to put a price on life? The licenses average approximately $30.00 each. Does this seem morally acceptable that for the price of killing an elk you could purchase a pair of jeans? All of the hunting in Alberta is completely unnecessary and purely for amusement. People do not need to hunt- food is available in ample amounts from grocery stores. People hunt because they want to prove that they can overpower animals that are different from them. Does this not share the same principles as terrorism?
The Government claimed that there were 700 Grizzly bears in Alberta recently, and then had to recall that claim for, in reality, there were less than one hundred. The only thing that the government has decided to do to slow the process of the extinction of the Grizzly is suspend hunting of the bear for a mere three years. Because Grizzlies produce only one or two cubs every other year at maximum, they will have not nearly enough time to replenish their population in that time.
Thankfully, some steps have begun to take us in the right direction, but this is not enough. We ask that you help us help the animals of Alberta by signing this petition.
Hopefully, our efforts will make a difference.
