The Administration of Thammasat University has announced a 2-day non-service period at the Tha Prachan Campus during March 15 16, 2010 to avoid possible harm to Universitys personnel, students as well as other assets which may derive from the planned gathering of the red shirts on Rajdamnoen Avenue.
The previous content seems to infer that the University Administration is concern enough to protect Thammasat assets; however the bitter truth is that some of the University premise is confined to be a temporary base of the police force assigned to monitor or, at a certain circumstance, quell the red-shirt activities.
We, alumni of Thammasat University, disagree to the Administration Team of Thammasat University as follows:
1. Despite the founding principles of Thammasat University to uphold good governance and cherish the interest-protection of individual fraction of society, the present Thammasat Administration has ignored peoples outcry for their rights and interests while facilitate the government administration to counter against the unarmed-lower strata of the society.
The University Administration team has acted and is acting against the founding concepts of the University.
2. Thammasat students and people crying for real democracy had been sporadically harmed by government forces since the formation of the institute, too detailed to mention hereby, we ask that the present Universitys Administration Team discontinue the support of imminent violence in all efforts.
