Creating a Successful Green Terror Soccer Program

As alumni of the McDaniel College (WMC) Mens Soccer Team, we would like to take this opportunity to bring your attention to the state of the Mens Soccer program.
The Mens Soccer team at McDaniel is the only program in the Centennial Conference that does not have a full-time coach. We find this part-time status as unacceptable. It is nearly impossible for a coach to designate the appropriate time and resources towards building a successful program under part-time financial remuneration. McDaniel College is deserving of an exceptional soccer program and it is unrealistic to believe that this can be achieved with a part-time coach. By signing this petition, we hope you will agree with this statement and make the Men's Soccer Coach a full-time position.
Should you agree that the Mens Soccer program is deserving of a full-time coach, we hope you will consider hiring an individual who has the administration, tactical, recruiting and fundraising acumen to build a high caliber program. Such a person is already employed at McDaniel and his name is Ryan Defibaugh (Class of 2002 and current Assistant Director of Admissions). With this said, Ryans education, coaching and playing qualifications are both sterling and numerous:
Coaching / Professional
2010 current, McDaniel College, Assistant Director of Admissions
2006 2010, Penn State University Mens Soccer Full-Time Assistant under legendary coach, Barry Gorman (now Technical Director of MLS club FC Dallas). Ryan led all nationwide recruiting efforts and was lead fundraiser for the program. During his tenure at PSU, the team competed in two Big Ten Championships and produced numerous professional players.
2003 2006, McDaniel Mens Soccer Lead Assistant coach. Led all recruiting efforts for McDaniel, contributing to a team who twice played in the Centennial Conference Championship game and produced two Conference Players of the Year in Thomas Kane and Scott Morrow.
Ryan is well connected within college and youth coaching circles and has attended numerous national soccer conventions and trained some of the countrys top youth players at PSU Soccer Camp.
Playing Career
1998 2001, one of the all-time great goalkeepers at McDaniel. Ryan is currently 2nd all time in career saves. 2001 & 2000 1st Team All Centennial Conference Goalkeeper and a Regional All American in 2001. Led McDaniel to a Centennial Conference Championship game in 2001.
A product of the famed Olney Soccer Club and Magruder High School in Montgomery County, Maryland.
Education
2005, McDaniel College, Masters of Sport Administration
2002, McDaniel College, BS in Exercise Science
In closing, please consider our signing of this petition as recognition that the Men's Soccer Team is deserving of a full-time coach and that we endorse the hiring of Ryan Defibaugh for this role. Should this position become a full-time position at McDaniel, we would be more inclined to make annual donations to the athletic department and assist with Men's Soccer recruiting efforts.
