Since its inception, the Community Access Program has enabled thousands of people to gain access to the internet by visiting their local public library. Users include those who cannot afford computer and/or internet service, people who are struggling to develop literacy, seniors who receive coaching in computer use, people who live in remote areas, and many other categories of users. People have come to rely on the CAP. We are concerned that this valuable program will no longer be viable given the cuts to funding described in the budget. Please reconsider cutting funding to the Community Access Program and continue the valuable technological opportunity many Canadians have come to depend on.
