Dear Assemblyman Nava:
RE: Specialized License Plates For Disabled Veterans
We the undersigned support the proposal to have California issue a special license plate to those veterans who have a 100\% service connected disability rating from the VA regardless of how that percentage is reached. These plates, and the vehicle registration, should be free for the life of the veteran and his widow unless she remarries. A total of two set of plates, and free registration, should be made available to qualifying veterans providing both vehicles are registered to him or her, are garaged at his residence and under 8,000 GVW each.
Additionally, we strongly support legislation that will reduce the paperwork and waiting time for those veterans who qualify for handicapped parking license plates from the up to seven months to one form and a maximum of two days waiting.
These men and women have made tremendous sacrifices under the most horrendous conditions and have had there lives changed forever because of there dedication and devotion to our country. The time is long past due that we make this effort a reality and show them the honor and respect they so justly deserve.
