We, the students of the undergraduate body of Wesleyan University, stand opposed to a sudden change in the residential housing contract for the upcoming academic year. While the rules for last year's housing contract allowed for small caged pets, the new contract now stipulates that: "Pets are not allowed in University housing. This includes cats, dogs, rabbits, and all other caged animals. The only exceptions are for fish in tanks no larger than 10 gallons. This is an unfair decision that affects many current pet owners and was made without any consultation of the student body. We feel that this issue must be redressed to allow students to keep their current pets as well as allowing some forum of student opinion to influence the final decision.
