Exam 2 Grading

Professor Lantzer,

We, the students of your PHC Western Civilization Class, have profited under your teaching, guidance, and advisement this Fall Semester of 2009. After taking the last test, "Exam 2", we have been hamstrung by the lack of grading. An ungraded test does not merely hinder knowledge on a specific assignment, but produces a domino effect that can negatively affect future graded work. Our studying for "Exam 3" becomes, therefore, a blind fish swimming through a dark tunnel. We know how to swim, taking from previously graded work, but we are still blind and dark, operating on old ideas and concepts. An error in Exam 2 can easily repeat itself in Exam 3, for we have no ability to correct or realize that error without previous grading.

Therefore, we are requesting today one or more of the following:

1) An explanation for why over 5 weeks of waiting has not resulted in any grade produced for our last labor. Certainly, a spectacular circumstance or unforeseen event could have delayed grading, and we do not seek to incur more misery through our personal agendas. Therefore, an explanation would make us more sympathetic and less antipathetic to the situation at hand.

2) Grading of Exam 2 before Exam 3 or a delay of Exam 3's due date until Exam 2 is graded.

and/or

3) A short guide to errors we must be aware of for this next test. Even without a grade, a short mention of common mistakes found in Exam 2 still provides for phenomenal insight in correction for Exam 3.

We attest to being Christians, and taking a class at a Christian college, we do not want this request to come forth from anything other than sincerity and respect. We come in understanding of your position as professor, and our place as students. We ask for the fullest understanding from you for this request, and willingness to help us do our best work on the final test, Exam 3.
