Force the Province of Ontario to Further Regulate the Insurance Industry

The people of Ontario are exercising our democratic rights and demand that:
1) The provincial government of Ontario force the insurance industry to explain and justify why they increased premiums and still made record profits in 2003.
2) Our provincial government force the insurance industry to re-pay all premiums to those that paid an increase greater that 10\% in 2003 who did no such action as to warrant an increase in their premiums (i.e. filing a claim).
3) The insurance industry be forced to set aside emergency funds in safe forms of investment (GICs and other insured savings) rather than risk a loss by placing these emergency funds in high risk investments such as the stock market.
4) The provincial government implement the necessary acts and regulations to oversee the insurance industry in Ontario, with the necessary authority to regulate and police all aspects of the industry (including re-payment be made should the industry be found to be guilty of overcharging their clients), so that Ontarians are not subject to random and unsubstantiated increases in premiums without due and justifiable reasons.
