On January 10th, 2006 Senator Mike Friend introduced Legislative Bill 770. This bill will give the Foster Parents the right of participation for persons required to be notified under this section shall include, at a minimum, an apportunity to be heard on issues relevant to the hearing (a)by oral statement during the hearing or (b) by written statement submitted to the court prior to or at the hearing. This Legislative Bill currently has only 4 Senators signed on to this bill. We need at least 25 Senators for this bill to pass on the Committee Floor. This is just a beginning for Foster Parents/Adoptive Parents to be heard by the courts. We need this bill to pass in order to eventually get "Party" status in the court.

From past experience as a Foster Parent, I saw some abuses to Foster Parents by children making accusations against them, and later learning the charges were unfrounded. BUT the damage was done to the Foster Parents and they could not be heard.
