Free Paris Hilton and Keep Celebrities Out of Jail
In light of the recent spate of celebrity arrests and incarcerations, I feel it is time that NEW LAWS be drafted and passed, whereby PUBLIC FUNDS will be BETTER UTILISED if jail sentences for CELEBRITIES be SET ASIDE, and instead replaced with other means of punishment.
Having tax-payer money go into housing and feeding celebrities (while in incarceration) is clearly a poor way of doling out punishment, since the public gain nothing more than prurient pleasure from watching their idols fall from grace. Instead, if jail time is replaced by HIGHER FINES and perhaps MANDATORY COMMUNITY SERVICE, this may serve the interest of the general public better than seeing them locked up behind bars.
Having different Laws apply to different categories of citizen, far from being unfair - will actually benefit the community. Tax Laws apply differently to those in different income brackets. So why should it also not be reflected in the criminal code?
People who have achieved International Celebrity should therefore be treated as a diplomat for the country. Thus, the same Laws which apply for that of a foreign dignitary, should be rightly modified and applied to celebrities who have achieved a certain amount of fame. Having such people locked up, will prove to be nothing more than an embarrassment on an INTERNATIONAL SCALE. This does nothing to improve a country's image on the international stage.
