Free postage to deployed service men and women

Knowing that sending letters regularly can become cumbersome and even expensive, and then adding the cost of sending packages internationally, we believe that postage to deployed Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines, and Guardsmen and women should be free, or at the very least, drastically reduced. These men and women are serving their country, today often in hostile environments. Knowing this, communication from home, even if only a letter, but especially packages containing simple photos or more, are greatly needed, yet people often must wait to send a package due to the cost.

This can be accomplished by the United States Postal Service not charging for letters and/or packages, even if the packages are only free up to a certain weight, after which they cost a reduced or regular rates to send, if the sender brings the item/letter in to a Post Office in person, where the address can be verified as being to a deployed serviceman or woman.

By doing this simple thing, as the letter/package would only be taken by USPS to a Military installation within the states before the Military takes control to deliver it, we can show more support for those fighting for the ideals this country was founded on.
