The City of Raleigh has accommodated all types of recreational activities by providing free facilities for soccer, basketball, tennis, and baseball players.
However there are ZERO free facilities that allow skateboarders to legally enjoy what they do... skateboard.
Every single day hundreds of skateboarders venture into the streets and risk getting ticketed and fined for skateboarding illegally. Boards have been taken, court dates are given and the illegal skateboarding still continues.
If a public skateboard park was constructed where there were no entry costs or pad requirements there would be a MASSSIVE decrease in illegal skateboarding on private property.
There would be a HUGE increase in economic activity in the community around the park. Skateboarders from all over the state/country/world would visit and use the skateboard park. Their money would be spent at local businesses.
We support the construction of a free public skateboard park in the City of Raleigh. The area could also be used by local artists and musicians as an outlet of expression.
A free public skateboard park would be a huge benefit and great addition to the community.
