We urge you to recognize and correct the tragic string of errors that occurred in Florida's courts in the case of Taylor G. Wells.
This case is not complicated or difficult. Read the sworn affidavits of the co-defendants, testifying that Taylor had nothing to do with the crime, that he was used for his car, that he had no idea what they were going to do (and they didn't tell him because they knew he wouldn't participate if he knew. Read how they said they would've killed him if he hadn't driven them away from the scene of the crime. Read about how Taylor cooperated with police (thinking he was being questioned as a witness to the crime) and how these statements were used by prosecutors to insinuate that he was a knowing participant. Talk to Taylor himself. He has been telling the same story since the first day that he was accused of this crime. He was not involved in the robbery or murder that took place on April 29, 1993. He is a victim of this crime, not an offender.
It is clear to anyone who takes the time to look at the evidence and facts, that things went terribly wrong in the way the Courts convicted Taylor.
We elected you to uphold the rule of law. We expect you to make sure that we are protected by the law. And we also expect you to intervene when things go awry and the Courts make mistakes. It is clear that big mistakes have occurred here. Every citizen has the right to justice. Taylor Wells has not been given justice.
We strongly urge you to use the power that the people of Florida have given you, and to intervene for Taylor today. You will never regret this decision of true integrity and wisdom.
