Freedom from Hate Speech!

Hate speech, is a term for speech intended to degrade, intimidate, or incite violence or some sort of action against a person based on his/her race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, sexual orientation, or disability. The term covers written as well as oral communication. This term does not apply to hateful speech toward concepts or institutions.

We, the undersigned, see the need for limitations on speech leading towards harmful actions against other people. This should be a punative act, but some courts in america don't recognize it as such. It is our responsibility to protect ourselves and those that we love from hateful people before they act on their hate. We have no intention to diminish the freedom of the First Ammendment, but instead, focus our laws more in tune with that freedom. If we are to accurately promote free speech, we must stand up and say that it was not created to promote hate.
