A letter of Petition to the United Nations, for the Restoration of Peace and Democracy in Haiti, from the members and friends of the international Hiphop culture and community.

Hip Hop Declaration of Peace - Second Principle
Hip Hop Kulture respects the dignity and sanctity of life without discrimination or prejudice. Hiphoppas shall thoroughly consider the protection and the development of life, over and before the individual decision to destroy or seek to alter its natural development.

United Nations Millennium Declaration - Fourth Principle
We are determined to establish a just and lasting peace all over the world in accordance with the purposes and principles of the Charter. We rededicate ourselves to support all efforts to uphold the sovereign equality of all States, respect for their territorial integrity and political independence, resolution of disputes by peaceful means and in conformity with the principles of justice and international law, the right to self-determination of peoples which remain under colonial domination and foreign occupation, non-interference in the internal affairs of States, respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms, respect for the equal rights of all without distinction as to race, sex, language or religion and international cooperation in solving international problems of an economic, social, cultural or humanitarian character.

To whom it may concern.

We are writing to you on behalf of the members and friends of the Hip Hop Kulture and community. We wish to bring to the attention of the United Nations and the global community the ways in which the principles of the UN Declarations and Charters are not being upheld, in reference to the situation in Haiti.

Highlighted at the top of the letter is the second principle from our own Hip Hop Declaration of Peace, which closely parallels the Fourth Principle of your own Millennium Declaration, both excerpts demonstrate the spirit in which we come to you with this request and we trust our request will be received in that same spirit.

It has come to our attention that the ousting of the elected President Jean-Bertande Aristide, and his government, was an illegal operation, supported and illegally supplied with funds and arms by a US-led Multinational coalition. I am sure you are aware of the overwhelming volume of evidence available to support this claim.

Also, backed by an overwhelming volume of journalistic reports, video and photographic documentation, and eye witness testimonies, it is evident that the way in which the political and social problems in Haiti are being dealt with, with the aid of UN peace keeping forces, is highly illegal, immoral, and in no way compliant with Haitian law, basic human rights, or democracy.

The Fanmi La Valas government was elected by a 92\% majority vote, despite many non-voting objectors at the time of the election. Supporters of Aristide's government still outnumber supporters of the illegally installed opposition by almost five to one in Haiti today, even though the death toll of Aristide supporters and their children (even those unborn) since his ousting is in the thousands.

With this information being widely available, as well as information on the numerous attrocities being committed on an almost daily basis, it is now clearly evident that the restoration of democracy or law is not being advocated or supported bt the peace keeping forces in Haiti, who are in clear violation of the fourth principle of the UN Millenium Declaration, and of many international laws.

We appeal to you as the united global Hiphop community, as well as citizens of the member states of the UN, to put an end to all illegal activity in Haiti without discrimination. This includes the illegal activity of the United Nation's CIVPOL and MINUSTAH forces, the illegal activity of the HNP (Haitian National Police), the illegal activity of the FADH (former Haitian armed forces), the illegal activity of the interim government, of the judicial system (those section chiefs who have violated Haitian Law), and of ALL armed gangs WITHOUT descrimination.

Furthermore, we insist that the only way in which both peace and democracy can be restored in Haiti is for the democratically elected Government and President to be fully restored. Following the full disarmament of all militia and street gangs which must take place urgently. All proper legal and judicial practice must be reformed in accordance with the Haitian Constitution and those being held illegally and those free who have been charged with humanitarian crimes must receive fair trials in accordance with Haitian and International Law.

We agree in full with the Six Point plan laid out by the Haiti Lawyers Leadership Network, and also with the recommendations of Amnesty International EXCEPT where they fail to recognize that any outside support offered to Haiti should be given to the democratically elected government, and NOT to the present violently and illegitimately installed government of the minority opposition.
