God and Religion - An insurance policy?

The subject of religion and the concept of God are issues of such controversy that one could expand and discuss broad notions such as these for pages at a time. Therefore, I will get straight to my point
Religion and the concept that is God are comparable to the ideology behind buying an insurance policy. Some fervent believers reading this would say that comparing God and religion to buying insurance is heresy and otherwise outrageous, but I say that its facing the reality of the situation.
Those who do believe follow the teachings of their God, whomever it maybe, and that of their religion as best as they could. Believers would live their lives by the rules of their religion and would try to abide by the guidelines that are stipulated by their supposed God(s).
Why? Well, they do it for one simple reason - a peace of mind.
What if you were to die tomorrow, the day after, a year from now, 10 years from now? What would happen to your soul then? Where would your soul and spirit go to?
All these question of what ifs and uncertainties are the main reasons that draw us towards religion and God; the same religion and God that promises different paths for the followers souls and or spirit.
The same ideology is used when one would buy an insurance policy for his or her car, life, or property what if. What if someone was to steal or crash into my car? What if the house got burned down? What if a thief broke into the house and stole valuable belongings.
Uncertainty and a need for reassurance make us want to believe in religion and God and that something awaits us after death. Our tendency to sometimes fear the worse and to refuse to acknowledge the possibility that we might be alone without the presence of God or a path after death leads us to gamble with religion and God. It is more convenient, not to mention easier to live your life and blindly accept a religion with all of its guarantees and promises in return for living a life a certain way than to live life with the uncertainties and the unknowns. Religion and God are the blind lies right in front of our eyes that we refuse to see. Taking a gamble to buy an insurance for your peace of mind is what religion really is.
