Forced Service Is Wrong!
Our kids today should not be forced into community service as a requirement for graduation. Community service should come from the heart. No one, in any way, shape, or form, can force another person to do meaningful volunteer work. If we persist in doing this, we aren't teaching our children values. We are teaching them how to use power to force another to do something they don't want to do. We are blackmailing our kids -- do what we say or you won't get your diploma. What kind of "FREE" country does that make us? I urge Congress and our government to consider the repercussions of forced community service on our youths. It should be an option and those who elect to do it, should be rewarded, but please, don't make it a requirement for graduation, or we only asking for chaos to reign.
