Greek Army

A change is needed in the Greek army. The main reasons for that are the current conditions where recruits are paid 8,60 (approx. 12$) a month for a whole year of military service and the fact that many of those required by the state to join the army have began their careers and an active citizens life. The possible solutions-scenarios are the following:
1. The Greek army should be transformed into a private one consisted only of mercenaries that is only those who are willing to be paid for offering their services to the state.
2. Military service should be reduced to 3 months with no change in the reimbursement of soldiers this time span should be sufficient for a basic training in arms.
3. Military service should be reduced to 6 months with a change in the reimbursement of soldiers which should be brought to a net (that is after deductions) of the basic minimum wage for Greece. This will allow soldiers to have a basic income and not to be dependent on their families for economic support.
Please sign this petition to show your agreement and the need for a change and forward the address to everyone that you know. This will act as a mechanism for making our voices heard and forcing the Greek government to take proper action.
