As a large propotion of the population in the UAE are expatriate workers, we feel the recent decisions by the UAE authorities (specifically Etisalat) to block Voice Over IP (VoiP) applications such as Skype and Vonage to be extremely unfair. As a country trying to attract foreign investment and expertise more and more people are becoming alienated by this policy.
Because talking to family and friends cannot be against moral beliefs (because Etisalat allow international calls) the policy must be purely based on financial grounds.
