John Jay Hall to be Renamed After Joe Jones

Whereas Joe Jones has brought great glory to our Columbia campus in only his second season as Men's Basketball coach; and
Whereas Joe Jones' Columbia Lions have six victories and only one defeat; and
Whereas Joe Jones' Columbia Lions have won both of their games on the road over respected opponents; and
Whereas Joe Jones has coached his team to four come-from-behind victories; and
Whereas Joe Jones has tremendous fashion sense; and
Whereas Joe Jones is currently the best coach with the last name Jones in the Ivy League; and
Whereas Joe Jones is currently the best coach in the Ivy League; and
Whereas Joe Jones has recruited a top recruiting class, in which five first-years have the potential to contribute immediately; and
Whereas Joe Jones is the only coach in the Ivy League with a fan club that bears his name; and
Whereas Joe Jones records the best ROLM phone messages on campus; and
Whereas Joe Jones has created a Columbia Classic, adding to Columbia's glory and laying the road for a good Columbia basketball program for years to come; and
Whereas Joe Jones is currently the most popular figure on campus with the initials "JJ"; and
Whereas no one on campus has ever met John Jay; and
Whereas John Jay predated basketball; and
Whereas John Jay is old and outdated; and
Whereas Joe Jones is new and glorious; and
Whereas Columbia basketball has a 483-1472 record during the existence of John Jay Hall; and
Whereas the spirit and morale of Columbia University needs to be lifted by the basketball team;
Now, therefore, be it resolved, that Columbia University immediately rename John Jay Hall, that it be known henceforth as Joe Jones Hall, and that JJ's Place, located conveniently in the basement of Joe Jones Hall, officially stand for "Joe Jones's Place".
