Please sign this petition to encourage McDonald's Corporate to consider keeping at least part of the zoo theme at their 101 S Expressway, Brownsville location. This themed appearance creates a unique entry into the cultural district of the city of Brownsville and for years has served as an icon welcoming visitors and locals to the area. It's a constant remidner of the importance of the Gladys Porter Zoo to our community. Additionally, it creates a welcoming break from the bland corporate culture architecture we are so used to seeing in every other community.
We understand the need to modernize and update this location to fit new trends and corporate goals. However, this has become a cherished part of our cultural identity in Brownsville. We simply ask that McDonald's give consideration to perhaps keeping part of the imagery primarily the animals on the roof and working into the updated design.
