We the undersigned are committed to encouraging the CRTC to modernize Canadian Content (CANCON) regulations placed on Canadian radio broadcasters. Our goal is to create incentives within CANCON that encourage Canadian radio stations to play more new and developing Canadian artists.
-We believe the adoption of CANCON by the CRTC has greatly benefited Canadian society and culture.
-We believe that radio airplay can contribute greatly to artist development through exposure, music sales, live performances and intra-industry growth.
-We believe the principles of CANCON PRO (consisting of CANCON Credits for various stages of an artists' career and detailed at www.letsfixcancon.ca) are fair, pragmatic, achievable and will lead to a healthy and thriving music industry.
The CRTC must update CANCON rules in order to enhance radio's role as a friend and partner to the music industry. CANCON must be progressive for us to achieve our cultural goals as a nation.
