His friends at Burlingame Intermediate School will never again see him smile or hear him laugh. And his two older sisters, Semra and Sultan, have lost the chance to touch, kiss or tease their baby brother.
Friends said
"HIS DEATH COULD'VE BEEN PREVENTED IF THERE WAS A FENCE"
"We want to prevent another death," said John Akkaya, executive director of the Burlingame-based Kurdish American Cultural Center and a longtime friend of the Kucs family. "We want to put up a fence. We don't want to dig another grave. One death is too many."
Kuc was the seventh fatality on the tracks this year.
On Monday, Caltrain introduced a new campaign, "Don't Shortcut Life." It's an approach expected to make the railway corridor from San Francisco to San Jose safer. It includes fencing, education and enforcement. Already, cities have been asked to identify areas they believe have the most trespassing.
THIS PETITION IS TO GET THE TRACKS FENCED, NO QUESTIONS ASKED. THIS IS SERIOUS...WE CANT SHORTCUT LIFE, WE NOW KNOW THAT...BUT THAT WONT KEEP ANYBODY FROM CUTTING ACROSS. WHY ARE THERE PATHS ON THESE SHORTCUTS IF THEY DONT WANT US WALKING ACOSS? FENCE THE PATHS AT LEAST! DO SOMETHING.
FOR THOSE WHO KNEW FATIH, KNOW WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT. SIGN THIS PETITION, MAYBE WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE.
